Matilori is surrounded by two mango trees and the amazing Costa Rica wildlife where you can see iguanas, monkeys and hummingbirds. In the 2 community kitchens you'll find everything you need, even free cafe in the morning. Since last year we also have a sofa lodge with TV, books, games and an outside BBQ. Its easy to get social and meet other travelers by participation in game nights, community BBQ's or by joining one of the various hostel tours to explore the surrounding areas.

We have 3 double rooms, 1 four-bed dorm and 1 six-bed dorm, all with shared bathroom and hot shower. The bright and friendly rooms are all well equipped with fans, cupboards and lockers.

Great hostel overall. Nice people/staff, great location and artsy graphics everywhere. Only complaint is the beds; felt like the mattress was from 1998. Spring were just about to pop through the thing.

I can’t say enough good things about Matilori. When I was originally booking I couldn’t decide between Las Mariposas and Matilori and I’m so happy I chose Matilori! I had 4 nights booked and I ended up staying for about 6 weeks! Samara is the best! A chill beach and surf town, and Matilori fits this profile and vibe perfectly. It’s a smaller hostel so huge community vibes. There are 2 kitchens that have everything you need. The location could not be more perfect. You can walk to the Natural Centre for food in 2 minutes and to the beach in 3 minutes! It’s also on a quiet side street so it’s peaceful at night. Very safe. The owner and all of the volunteers are amazing. Super friendly and helpful. You won’t regret staying here! I already can’t wait until I can visit again! Pura Vida :)

This place feels great! What a nice vibe. It's chill and social. It's one to two blocks away from so much in town , yet tucked away on a quiet street. Its a house so it feels like a home. It's clean, has good facilities, and plenty of space to get together or have some alone time.
