Quiet and private hostel, staff seems to take security and quiet hours seriously. We were often asked for our room number when we came home late. Privacy curtains are nice but don’t block out the light on the top bunks. Hot water in showers, nice rooftop area, some dog poop and pee, but it was usually cleaned up quickly and the dogs are really cute.

We stayed for three nights at Hostal Antigua and it was exactly what we needed. We stayed in the dorm. The beds were comfortable and the general vibe is rather quiet which we liked. We still met some other travelers and had some good conversations on the rooftop terrace. We were even able to let our bags in the hostel for a night and take a shower after we came back from the Acatenango hike. We would definitely come back.
