Welcome to The Seaside Hawaiian Hostel, the original and only family-owned and operated hostel in Waikiki. For over two decades, we have been the spot for backpackers and travelers of all ages who are looking for an easy-going and laid-back atmosphere in Oahu.
Step outside of our gates and you will find yourself mere minutes away from all that Waikiki has to offer- city exploring, world-class restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and of course, the world-famous Waikiki Beach. But while you're within the walls of our property, you'll find nothing but peace, calm, and the best vibes.
We're located centrally in the Waikiki neighborhood of Honolulu. We are also 2 short blocks from Waikiki beach and walking distance from everything else in Waikiki like surf spots, dining, shopping, parks and coffee shops.
To get to us from the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, take bus 19 or 20 to Kuhio Avenue (about an hour ride) ride and we are about a minute walk from the stop. Please note - we do not offer onsite parking. However, there are overnight garages and street parking in the area.
All rooms and dorms have ceiling fans. There are mixed and female-only dorms, all with shared bathrooms ensuite. All rooms have storage lockers - just bring a lock with you. Linens, bath towels and beach towels are all included.
We have a fully equipped kitchen and refrigerators so you can save and cook meals at our hostel. We have Wifi and an outdoor TV area and we will have hot coffee or tea ready for you every morning.
The Seaside Hawaiian Hostel House Rules:
**Must have a ticket off island to book a reservation**
Check-in is between 4 pm and 11 pm. Checkout is by 11 am on your last day. Our front office is closed every day from 1pm to 4pm.
Please email us if your flight arrives late and you will need after-hours check-in.
No guests under the age of 18. No exceptions!
We do not have onsite parking available for our guests. There are overnight garages and street parking in the area if you choose to rent a car.
There is no charge for the first set of bed linens and towels (extra sets of bed linens and towels are available for 1 USD each)
Toilets and bathrooms are mixed (except in the female dorms)
Free luggage storage and shower available for guests departing after check-out time/arriving before check-in time
Toilets and bathrooms are mixed (except in the female dorms).
**FOR THE ROOM TYPE - Double Bed Private Shared Bathroom - FEMALE-ONLY** This room exists inside of a female-only dorm. Although you have to also share a bathroom with the rest of the females outside of the dorm, you will have the privacy of a personal locked room which no other guests can access.
Free luggage storage available for guests departing after check-out time/arriving before check-in time.

Hostel was good value for money considering waikiki is so expensive. Just FYI if you're booking a private room, we had a private room but to access it you have to walk through a dorm of 4 beds and enter off their room, which was weird/not that private. Unfortunately the social area is right outside bedroom windows & people are very noisy until late with no regard for those sleeping. Maybe just unlucky timing. The shared kitchen was a good size and we used it every day & courtyard was nice.

I booked this hostel based on the overall good reviews, and I was guessing a Hawaiian hostel would be reasonably nice. But my room was really terrible. There was a strong smell of urine, and there were roaches. Because of my plans, I was gone early and back late at night, so I didn’t really have an opportunity to say anything to staff (Btw, my interaction with staff during check-in was great! So my issue isn’t with the staff). Anyway, I don’t expect resort-level accommodations, but I do expect to have non-s
